Artist Statement

Using oil paint as a primary medium, I am currently exploring everyday mundane moments with my family. While remaining steadfast to depicting unidealized truths, I am recording my life one moment at a time.

My work explores the often overlooked, mundane moments of everyday life. Using a representational approach, I preserve the fleeting moments that make up the rhythm of my lived experience. Experiences with my family, reactions to my environment or moments of quiet all serve as a way for me to preserve time. By translating these in oil and canvas, I am able to capture my life and the lives of those I am connected to, not only to preserve their likeness, but also their emotional resonance.

I am interested in how these experiences, especially those that often pass by unnoticed, can be knit together to form a life and become more than the sum of their parts. I take time to intentionally observe and record them. In capturing these small moments of my life, I invite viewers to reflect on their own lives, their sense of nostalgia and feeling rooted in their own present.
